Motorola has just made the Moto 360 Sport available to U.S. customers on its official site. The fitness-focused smartwatch retails for $299.99.

The smartwatch, which was announced in December, comes equipped with a GPS and is compatible with a wide range of Android fitness apps. These include Fitbit 3, Google Fit, Strava, Under Armour Record, MapMyRun and Moto Body, which is a pre-installed heart rate app. It also features a Google Play music player and the so-called "personal coach," which, as the name implies, is tasked to deliver the wearer's fitness progress in the form of weekly summaries.

"Moto 360 Sport has built-in GPS that works seamlessly with Moto Body to measure your performance," said Motorola. "Track your distance traveled, pace, lap times, and more. There's no need to carry your phone to know how you're doing."

One of the notable features of the Moto 360 Sport is the "AnyLight" display which is touted as the first hybrid screen in the world that instantly adapts to the level of light, whether it's coming from the outdoors or indoors.

"Enjoy a readable LCD screen," said Motorola. "Then when you are out for a run, it reflects natural light, making the screen clear and sharp – and not washed out like on other smartwatches."

Other important highlights of the Moto 360 Sport include wireless charging, 300mAh battery that delivers up to a full-day battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity, along with dust- and water- resistance with an IP67 rating.

Powered by Android Wear, the Moto 360 Sport allows the user to enjoy a slew of activities right from the smartwatch. These include reading Gmail and calendar invites, chatting with friends through WhatsApp, getting traffic and weather updates, using Facebook and a whole lot more.

The Moto 360 Sport also features Moto Voice, which, when properly trained, can easily recognize the user's voice in order to start obeying commands. This way, the user can easily manipulate his phone hands-free by simply giving out commands through the wearable.

The new fitness-based Moto 360 Sport is available in a trio of sporty colors that include black, white and flame orange.

Brian Heater of Tech Times made an extensive review on the Moto 360 Sport and here is what he had to say about its band and design features:

"All in all, the Moto 360 Sport is a remarkably comfortable smartwatch. The round face sits well on the wrist and doesn't feel as crazily oversized as much of the competition. The silicone is soft of skin and provides an ample amount of ventilation. The inability to swap bands does decrease the watch's versatility fairly substantially, however, a bummer for an otherwise fully-functioning smartwatch."
