HTC continues to make progress with its Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout and the next in line to get it is the Sprint HTC One M8.

Google released the latest version of its popular mobile operating system a while back, but most OEMs have yet to upgrade their devices to Marshmallow. HTC may have lost ground to rivals on the smartphone market, but at least it stays committed to upgrading its flagships.

Less than one month ago, just in time for Christmas, HTC announced an upgrade for the unlocked One M9 and One A9. The company released Android 6.0 for its unlocked One M9 and Android 6.0.1 for its unlocked One A9 at the time, and it now has more good news.

HTC's Mo Versi, who is the company's product management chief, took to Twitter to announce that the HTC One M9 on SaskTel, Videotron, Wind and Rogers in Canada was getting the Marshmallow treat starting on Monday.

As expected, this good news for Canadian owners of the HTC One M9 prompted other HTC fans to wonder when their devices will get the upgrade. In a comment to Mo Versi's announcement, one Twitter user asked about the update for the Sprint HTC One M8. In response, Mo Versi confirmed that the Sprint HTC One M8 is indeed set to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow very soon. If everything goes as planned, HTC One M8 owners on Sprint should get a taste of Marshmallow within the next couple of days or so.

In response to another user asking about the T-Mobile HTC One M8, Mo Versi said the update is currently in the works and HTC expects it to be ready for rollout later this month, on Jan. 25.

No specific date is available for when the update will hit the AT&T or Verizon versions of the One M8 handset, but it seems that the AT&T HTC One M9 needs a "few more weeks."

More devices from other OEMs should also start getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon, with a wider rollout expected this year. For now, most non-Nexus devices still run Lollipop, with plenty of handsets also running even older versions of Android.
