"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been tearing up the box office ever since it was released back in December of 2015. However, the inevitable slowdown has come as the film now sits at the number three spot at the box office.

The film held tight at the top for a whopping four weeks, but in its 5th week, the movie was kicked from the top by no other than "Ride Along 2." Some folks are quite surprised that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was dethroned by a comedy, but bear in mind, this comedy is one with a successful first outing.

"Ride Along 2" walked away with over $34 million to take the top spot. At the second position on the list, "The Revenant" ramps it up with over $29 million. "The Revenant" is a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, a popular actor who is still lurking in the corners for his first Oscar. This could be the year since the film lands the actor a Golden Globe award.

At number three, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is still working to become the top earning movie in history with a decent enough $25 million. The 6th week could be interesting if "The Revenant" and "Ride Along 2" fail to hold up, because "The Force Awakens" could easily take the top spot once more.

Here's the box office estimates from Rentrak:

    Ride Along 2 $35.3 million

    The Revenant $31.8 million

Star Wars: The Force Awakens $26.3 million

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi $16.2 million

    Daddy's Home $9.5 million

Norm Of The North $6.8 million

    The Forest - $ 6 million

The Big Short - $5.3 million

    Sisters $4.7 million

    The Hateful Eight $3.5 million

Despite slipping to the number three spot, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has managed to surpass the $1 billion mark on the international box office, and it is also the first to do so for Disney, according to Deadline. We understand the film is the 5th movie of all time to make $1 billion outside of the United States. "The Force Awakens" is also the highest-grossing film in the U.S., and could make its way to the $1 billion mark to become the first movie to do so in the country.

As of now, not a single movie has managed to make $3 billion at the box office, but if "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" can earn big in China, where it is close to grabbing $100 million, history could be in the making. If that does not happen, then there's a good chance "The Force Awakens" could unseat "Avatar" from pole position.

Either way, one thingis nearly certain: James Cameron's massive hit, "Titanic," which holds the number two spot of the highest grossing films of all time, will slip to number three if "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" continues to grow.
