Call of Duty: Black Ops could support backward compatibility in due time, according to the findings of an Xbox user in Spain.

Needless to say, there's a good chance that the action-packed shooter could join the growing list of backward compatible titles on the Xbox One. Digital Foundry has also been looking into the technical aspects of games such as Fallout 3, Halo: Reach and Gears of War, which means that they could soon have the feature as well.

This time around, the report for Call of Duty: Black Ops comes from the Spanish website SoloXboxOne (translated). It appears that the user was already able to download the Annihilation: Pack 3 DLC from the Spanish Xbox One store, indicating that the game will have backward compatibility in the near future.

Considering that the first installment of the Black Ops series is one of the highly requested Xbox 360 games to have the feature, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that there's this development.

It's also worth mentioning that Activision doesn't have any plan to roll out remastered versions of Call of Duty. That means that the only way to play the older titles on the Xbox One is to wait for them to get backward compatibility.

Based on Microsoft's track record, Xbox 360 games will pop up on the Xbox One ready for installation when they're about to launch. As such, it won't be long until Call of Duty: Black Ops goes official on the Xbox One, and this is more or less a sure sign that it'll be up sometime in February.

In the same vein, Microsoft has announced that it will no longer announce batches of games with backward compatibility on a monthly basis, choosing to release them when they are ready instead. This setup begins with the January update.

"Based on your feedback, the Xbox Engineering team will start to pilot a new way to launch Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles. Starting today, we'll release titles as they become available, rather than a set monthly launch date," the Xbox Wire staff says.

Currently, this is the only evidence for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops with backward compatibility, but it definitely puts up a strong case toward that.
