Walmart suffered a technical glitch that sent customers on an online shopping frenzy as many expensive items were advertized at an extremely low price.

Many customers who visited the company's website on Wednesday, November 6, morning found various items for sale at an extremely low price. The prices of certain products were even showing up as less than 10 percent of the intended price tag.

"We experienced a technical error that caused some items to show incorrect pricing," said Walmart in a statement. "We are working quickly to correct the error and during this time, there may be intermittent site availability. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."

A company spokesperson also assured customers that the problems were due to an internal error and not a hack. Moreover, the glitch has also been fixed by the company.

"We have millions of products in our website. This error affected a group of items," said Ravi Jariwala, a spokesperson for Walmart.

Jariwala recently announced that due to the wide discrepancy in the price due to the glitch customers have been notified that their incorrect orders have been canceled and payment refunded in full. Jariwala also issued an apology statement for any inconvenience caused to customers due to the internal technical glitch. According to Wall Street Journal, Walmart will also send a gift card of $10 to the affected customers, which can be used towards a purchase from the retailer.

This is not the first time that Walmart customers have been on a shopping frenzy. A few weeks ago, Walmart stores in Louisiana experienced problems with the food stamps EBT system. Customers who visited certain stores found that the error caused account limits to temporarily disappear, which lead customers to take advantage and fill up their shopping carts with items worth lots of money.

Wednesday's glitch mainly involved electronics items. Customers faced the problem for a short time only but the company did not reveal the number of incorrect orders received before the technical error was fixed.
