LEGO Marvel's Avengers may have just released, but in five months, yet another LEGO game will be hitting store shelves: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Developer Traveler's Tales will be returning to the galaxy far, far away for yet another game based on the film franchise. This time, however, there will be new canon content that will actually take place before the events of The Force Awakens.

For example, have you wondered why C-3PO now has a red arm? While that will be explained in an upcoming Marvel comic, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will also be telling the tale in the form an extra level that can be unlocked over the course of the game. TT tells Game Informer that its latest LEGO Star Wars game will have six additional pre-The Force Awakens levels that will expand upon the story of the film, all of them official canon.

"The thing with The Force Awakens is that we've had the privilege of being able to create some additional content, some additional levels that take place before the events of The Force Awakens and allow us to explore some of the backstory of the characters, which is an absolute dream for any fan of Star Wars," Mike Taylor, head of design at TT Fusion, says. "There's lots of exclusive stuff there, and we've drawn from the content in some of the other additional materials that Lucasfilm have been involved in."

These special levels will become available after completing levels in the game's campaign, but only if you have enough golden bricks to unlock them.

"We've covered — or are in the process of covering — some pretty significant events that happen before the film that give people more information about why certain things in The Force Awakens happened and why certain characters have ended up where they are," Taylor says. "It's pretty amazing."

While fans shouldn't expect the identity of Rey's parents to be revealed, Game Informer says they can expect minor mysteries to be addressed. For example, one level will explore how Han Solo and Chewbacca managed to catch those deadly Rathtar creatures that are seen in the film.
