In an interview with Forbes, Titanfall lead writer Jesse Stern revealed that the sequel to the action-packed mechanical title will have a single-player campaign, which is a mode that was missing in the first iteration of the game.

According to Stern, Respawn Entertainment began to work on Titanfall 2 in late 2014, after working for six months for additional content on Titanfall. Stern explained that, as the company was a startup at the time, it did not possess enough resources to be able to make both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode for Titanfall.

Respawn will not be having that same problem with Titanfall 2, as the game has attracted a user base of 10 million gamers, bringing in the cash for the company. As such, a single-player mode should be expected for the game.

Stern believes that one aspect for improvement for Titanfall was that it failed to tell players much of the story behind the game. While Respawn was able to create the world of Titanfall with all the answers to the questions that gamers would be asking, the company just did not have the mechanism to tell the story appropriately. Apparently, this would not be the case for Titanfall 2.

The single-player mode will not be getting all the attention for the sequel though, as Stern said that the multiplayer mode will be even better compared to the first game.

Stern also confirmed earlier reports that Titanfall 2 will be a multiplatform game compared to Titanfall, which was an exclusive for the Xbox One.

Electronic Arts, the game's distributor, has not indicated a release date for the title, only claiming that it will be out within the 2017 fiscal year that runs from April 1 this year to March 31, 2017. According to Stern, development on the game has only been for a year, and with two years being the standard time that it takes to create such video games, gamers could expect Titanfall 2 to be completed by late this year or early 2017.

In addition to the single-player mode for Titanfall 2, Stern also mentioned that he is working with Lionsgate TV for a Titanfall TV series spin-off. Not much else was revealed about the project though, aside from the fact that it would be very costly to produce.
