The rumor mill about the HTC's smart timepiece continues to churn. Word has it that the HTC One smartwatch is all geared-up for a launch in April.

Evan Blass, well renowned for his highly accurate leaks, sent out a tweet suggesting that the unveiling date of the HTC smartwatch could be before the end of April.

While not much is known at the moment, as details are scarce, rumor has it that the HTC smartwatch will rock a circular design and be powered by Android Wear. We are not going to be surprised if it will be released with a round display given that more smartwatches are continuously gaining traction among consumers these days.

By how much the device could cost is also yet to be determined.

Codenamed Halfbeak

Back in September last year, it was speculated that the HTC's forthcoming Android Wear-powered smartwatch had been codenamed Halfbeak, like the name of the fish, as most Android Wear smartwatches carry a fish-related codename.

During the time, it was said that the device may sport a round 360 x 360 resolution screen.

HTC Killed The Project

In July 2014, Blass already leaked an image of what was purportedly the smart timepiece of HTC. After two months, HTC killed off the project so as not to rival Samsung, LG, Motorola and other big names.

During the time, the rising cost of building the watch was among the reasons why HTC has reportedly dusted off its plan to produce the timepiece. On top of that, the purported device allegedly lacked a special design and innovation that would allow it to compete with other strong competitors.

Reported To Arrive This February

Blass in December last year posted another tweet suggesting that the long-awaited wearable device could already see the light of the day this February.

Back then, speculation was rife that it could come out during the Mobile World Congress 2016 which is going to be held from Feb. 22 through Feb. 25.

At any rate, it will be interesting to see this highly awaited smartwatch, especially since the company has taken its sweet time in producing the device.

Although Blass has already proven himself to be one of the most trustworthy tipsters in the industry, as usual, take this with a grain of salt, as it is just a rumor after all.
