MLB The Show 16 just put the ball in play that much further for its Diamond Dynasty feature, announcing an expansion for that part of the game on Tuesday.

The highly anticipated title, which hits stores March 29, gives gamers the ability to diversify their rosters in Play With Friends, a feature within the Diamond Dynasty component, while keeping them abreast of key information about the players on their squad.

To accomplish the latter, MLB The Show 16 teamed up with the baseball analytics firm Inside Edge to empower gamers with a Daily Player Rating for every day of the 2016 Major League Baseball season. What this feature does is it generates a one-star to five-star rating for each player who has a live game that day or night, depending on who they're facing.

So, if Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer tends to bash Boston Red Sox pitching, he'll have a five-star rating entering a game against them. If there's a franchise whose pitching he can't seem to put a bat on, then a one-star rating will likely be the result of his Daily Player Rating entering that series.

And that's just the beginning of the Diamond Dynasty expansion announced by MLB The Show 16 on Tuesday.

The beefed-up portion of the game also includes "hundreds" of new players, adding to the legends the series introduced with last year's title. These "Flashbacks," as they're referred to, highlight star players from significant parts of their careers.

So, Alex Rodriguez's short tenure with the Texas Rangers would be considered his "Prime Flashback," while the feature also tabs star players during their "Rookie Flashbacks" and "Postseason Flashbacks."

The game is also making it more interesting to attain cards, XPs and stubs with the introduction of Missions. The Missions could have gamers completing tasks like collecting 25 Red Sox players to unlock a Red Sox "Flashback."

Another new wrinkle being introduced is the ability for gamers to earn new tickets — in any mode — toward one of six captains or MLB superstars. From there, each captain comes equipped with his own Mission, which would provide more tickets to gamers upon completion.

In recent weeks alone, MLB The Show 16 has added more authentic gameplay features and now has enhanced the Diamond Dynasty experience.
