Samsung and LG have both revealed their 360 degrees camera: Gear 360 and LG 360 Cam, respectively, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Here is what the two cameras have to offer.

Samsung Gear 360

Samsung designed the Gear 360 in a way that allows users to take photos and videos in 360 degrees. The sphere-shaped double-lens camera is flat at the bottom so that it can rest properly on most surfaces.

Owners will be able to edit photos and videos taken from the camera on some select Galaxy phones and also share them on social media. Customers who wish to edit the results in details can also use a PC software.

Users can view photos and videos on the Gear VR headset. The Gear 360 has a microSD card slot that is used for storing data worth up to 128 GB. The camera has a 1,350 mAh battery.

The Gear 360 has two 15-megapixel cameras and each of them has f2.0 lenses, which can shoot at a wide angle of 195-degree field of view. The 15-degree overlap helps in stitching the images together.

The Samsung camera is compact and lightweight and weighs only 5.39 ounces, or 153g. The spherical design also offers portability.

Customers who buy the Gear 360 will also get a free tripod. The camera is also dust-resistant and splash proof, which means owners, can take it out for capturing outdoor activities without worrying for the safety of the device.

Samsung suggests that the Gear 360 will be available in Q2 2016 in select countries. Check out the Gear 360 camera's official webpage to get full details of the camera.

LG 360 Cam

The LG 360 Cam is a direct competition to the Samsung Gear 360. The LG offering is very similar to the Samsung camera but there are some differences in the two devices.

Just like the Gear 360, the LG 360 Cam can take 360 degrees photos and videos but does not have a spherical share than its Samsung rival. The camera can be paired with the latest LG G5 smartphone. Photo and video editing option via a smartphone or PC is not known at the moment.

The camera has two 13-megapixel cameras and each of them can shoot 200-degree field of view. The extra 20-degree is for stitching the images together.

The videos and photos taken from the camera can be viewed on select smartphones and on LG 360 VR headset.

At 72g, or about 2.53 ounces, the LG 360 Cam is lighter than the Samsung camera. Hence, it is compact enough for users to take it elsewhere.

The LG 360 Cam has 4 GB of on-board storage and with a microSD card users can expand the storage even further. The camera has a 1,200 mAh battery.

"The LG 360 CAM provides 2K video and 5.1 surround channel recording on three microphones to help users effortlessly create high-quality 360-degree contents. Thanks to the partnership with Google, images taken with the 360 CAM can be uploaded to Google Street View and YouTube360, adding the fun of sharing creative contents with others," says LG.

LG has not yet confirmed the release date of the LG 360 Cam.
