Alcatel's new OneTouch Xess 17-inch all-in-one PC will run Phoenix OS, a modified version of Android, which will allow users to take advantage of Google's Android OS with a functionality of a desktop.

Alcatel unveiled the massive device in September and initially equipped it with pure Android. It powered the machine with a MediaTek MT8783T 64-bit octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor and supported it with 2 GB of RAM along with 32 GB internal storage.

The battery capacity is measured at 10,000 mAh, which should be enough to deliver up to 6 hours of battery life and allow full HD video playback. Other features that should add more excitement to media content viewing and listening include the machine's 3-watt JBL stereo speakers and a pair of microphones.

"Xess is one of our favorite new products because this big format is really family-oriented and has a multitude of uses at home or at work," says Stan Hu, Alcatel's chief technology officer and general manager of innovation at the company's BigPad Business Center. "You can use it to cook, by displaying your favorite recipes in the kitchen, watch movies, listen to music or play games with friends and family in the living room."

According to Alcatel, the OneTouch Xess 17-inch all-in-one device is perfect for various purposes. Apart from movie streaming, it's also best for sketchpad use by kids of all ages, displaying recipes in the kitchen and playing games with friends and family members.

Aside from the super large screen, the OneTouch Xess boasts a stainless-steel body with an impressive design and slim build.

One of the things that make the Alcatel OneTouch Xess unique is the built-in stand, which gives users the freedom to position the machine depending on the level of desired viewing. Users can make the stand lie down flat to enjoy games and fun family activities. It can be adjusted to 30 degrees for drawing and sketching, 50 degrees when viewing recipes while cooking and 75 degrees when watching videos.

The OneTouch Xess can also be used with a Smart Dock and wall mount for more viewing options.

It also comes with a slide-out carrying handle and a magnetic stylus for productivity-minded users.

The Alcatel OneTouch Xess is expected to hit the stores in the United States in the second quarter of 2016 with a launch in Europe slated to occur a few months later.
