The U.S. market may seem to be almost saturated with wireless carriers which have been trying to win more subscribers over their rival. The latest bout so far involves T-Mobile and Sprint with each carrier having its own gimmick while throwing criticisms at each other's back.

Not so long ago, it should be remembered that Sprint had planned to acquire T-Mobile which is perhaps the company's own way to follow the familiar "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" adage. However, the plan didn't gain approval from the regulators. This seemingly predictable change of plans bring us back to the old adage but this time with a twist: "If you can't join 'em, beat 'em."

The rivalry between the two carriers started to heat up once again when T-Mobile offered to any of its subscribers a one year subscription of unlimited LTE data access at no extra cost if the subscriber has successfully convinced someone to leave and discontinue their subscription with a rival carrier. When the ex-rival subscriber decides to sign up for T-Mobile, he gets the same full year of unlimited LTE data. Though the offer from T-Mobile targets rival Sprint, those who decide to leave AT&T or Verizon for T-Mobile are also welcome to join.

"Starting next week, whenever a T-Mobile Simple Choice customer throws a lifeline to a Sprint (or AT&T or Verizon) customer and brings them to the Un-carrier, both receive unlimited LTE data for a full year on T-Mobile's blazing-fast LTE network, at no additional charge. T-Mobile Simple Choice customers who already have unlimited LTE data receive a $10 credit each month for twelve months," says T-Mobile in a press release.

Sprint claims that its $60 Unlimited Plan is the best offer that a subscriber can get. At this rate, it is definitely cheaper by $20 compared to the $80 per month of unlimited plan offered by T-Mobile. Sprint offers the plan to both new and current Sprint subscribers. In order to qualify, customers have to purchase their mobile device through the company's Easy Pay. They can pay the retail price in full or they can bring their own device as long as it's compatible.

"People know Sprint for Unlimited," said CEO Marcelo Claure of Sprint. "We have long been the leader in offering customers unlimited data and that leadership continues today with our new $60 unlimited plan. Unlimited talk, text and data for $60 is the best unlimited postpaid plan available. And, we've listened to our loyal customers; we're making the Sprint $60 Unlimited Plan available to both new and existing customers."
