Most of us have no idea what life as an assassin is like (regrettably), but a new VR experience announced by Ubisoft could give fans a chance to experience the world of Assassin's Creed like never before.

Ubisoft partnered with Fox, the studio behind the upcoming movie adaptation, to create the experience, along with visual effects studio Practical Magic.

However, players shouldn't expect that the experience will reflect any of the previous video games; it won't allow players to sail the high seas with Connor or run across the rooftops with Ezio. This virtual reality experience takes its cues solely from the movie.

"We're excited about the announcement of the Assassin's Creed VR Experience and we look forward to working with New Regency, Fox and Practical Magic to share more in the future," Ubisoft spokesperson Michael Beadle said to Polygon.

There's really no other information available, though, other than a single tweet:

Ubisoft announced the experience during a GDC press conference, with Practical Magic president Matthew Lewis insisting that this is an "experience" and not a game. Basically, that means that, whatever this VR thing is, it's probably not interactive, and possibly just a VR movie promo, which makes sense, because Lewis did mention that they shot the VR footage during the making of the film.

The movie follows Callum Lynch as he unlocks his genetic memories as a 15th century Spanish assassin: he must revisit those memories to learn the skills and acquire the tools to defeat the Templar organization, which wants to control the world.

Although based on the Assassin's Creed video games, the film introduces a new character to the world built in the game franchise.

Though Ubisoft once committed to releasing a new Assassin's Creed video game every year, the company recently confirmed that there will be no new title this year in the franchise.

"This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin's Creed franchise," wrote Ubisoft on its blog. "As a result, we've decided that there will not be a new Assassin's Creed game in 2016. Since the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, we've learned a lot based on your feedback. We've also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin's Creed a premier open-world franchise."

However, fans of those games will still get a movie this year, when Assassin's Creed hits theaters on Dec. 21.
