We've heard several rumors in the past that suggest Captain Marvel might actually appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, it appears this might not happen as Marvel is having cold feet over the whole thing. It wouldn't be much of a problem if she didn't show up, because she'd only pop up as a cameo.

According to Devin Faraci on Twitter, Marvel is not yet sure if they want to introduce the character as a cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"MCU update: sources tell me Marvel is getting cold feet about Captain Marvel in AGE OF ULTRON. They're not sure they want to intro her cold," according to a tweet from Faraci.

For those who might be wondering who Captain Marvel is, well, she goes by many names. Some know her has Ms. Marvel, and others know her as Carol Danvers.

Her role in Age of Ultron was not confirmed, but it came up when director, Joss Whedon, confirmed that Avengers: Age of Ultron will have 4 prominent female roles, which leads us to believe that Captain Marvel might finally show up.

Furthermore, information in the past have always suggested that Captain Marvel would only have a cameo role, though none made any claim of her getting a standalone film in the future. We're guessing this would be the case if moviegoers find the character intriguing enough.

It would be great for Disney/Marvel to bring this character out of the shadows since the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, indeed, of a movie where the female character is the lead. We've seen a lot of Black Widow, but she's not compelling enough to warrant a standalone film. Maybe a Hawkeye and Black Widow team-up movie would work, but not a standalone for either character.

Captain Marvel would be perfect for the first Marvel movie with a female lead. However, we'd recommend changing her name from Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel to something else, because the name is a bit on the lame side, agreed?

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for a release date May 1, 2015. The film is directed by critically-acclaimed director, Joss Whedon.
