Thought "Guardians of the Galaxy" was out for the count once "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" came out and took the top spot at the box office? Think again, son, the Disney/Marvel space epic has regained the number one spot and has stood there for the second weekend running.

To make things even more interesting, "Guardians of the Galaxy" has now become the number one movie of the year, and we doubt any other film that is expected to be released before the end of the year will be capable of dethroning this surprise hit.

In just three days, "Guardians of the Galaxy" managed to draw $16.3 million in the United States and Canada. Overall, however, the film has grossed $274.6 million, surpassing "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." It's very surprising because this is a new film with characters attempting to establish themselves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so to see it surpassing films with already established characters is quite shocking.

At second place, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is still there, surprisingly. Honestly, we thought this movie would have fallen off the radar by now since it is terrible. So far, the film has a cumulative total of $162.4 million, which is a sure-fire sign that a sequel will definitely happen in the coming years. Come to think of it, a sequel was announced for 2017.

At third spot, the Warner Bros.-made romantic film, "If I Stay," is doing well for a low-budget film. It has so far amassed a total of $29.8 million, and could go on to achieve upward of $40 million before it boils down to nothing.

Now at the fourth spot at the U.S. and Canada box office is another low-budget film called "As Above, So Below." It's a horror film, and it has so far managed to gross $8.3 million in its first week at the office.

It will be interesting to see if any new film coming out will have the power to unseat "Guardians of the Galaxy" from the top spot. It will happen, but one thing that we are certain will never happen for the rest of the year is a film coming out of the blue to take the top spot from Marvel's comedic action epic.
