When it comes to time travel, many debate a rather important question: if you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a child, would you?

On DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the team finds itself faced with this dilemma: it finds Vandal Savage as a boy and must decide to kill him then or wait until he's older and has already starting planning his plot for taking over the world.

It's sort of like a recent episode of Doctor Who, where the12th Doctor finds himself face to face with a young Davros, who would grow up to create the Daleks. In that episode, the Doctor had to decide if he would allow Davros to die as a child — preventing the Daleks from existing — or save him, which would mean the Daleks would still become an evil reality in the universe.

"This kid's like a baby Hitler," Jax says in the trailer. "There's got to be a better way," Kendra argues. Ultimately, the promo asks, "How far would you go to protect your family?"

On DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the motley group of heroes continues chasing Vandal Savage throughout time to prevent the atrocities that he has planned for the world, including events that ultimately lead to the death of Rip Hunter's family. How far will the team go in achieving its goals? Can the group really kill a child?

Regardless of how this season of Legends of Tomorrow turns out, though, The CW already has plans for the show's second season. Although speculation has the series bringing in a new cast each year, it's likely many of this season's legends will return for another round of adventure.

"I think that rumors got started when a couple of critics got very enamored with the idea of the show being like American Horror Story, where each season resets every year and we aren't going to be like that," executive producer Marc Guggenheim said to the Celebrity Cafe. "Each season is going to have its own identity and like with any show there will be new characters coming in and leaving, but the poster next year won't look very different from the poster this year."

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT.
