New details have emerged about Larry David’s upcoming Broadway play, including its opening date.

“Fish in the Dark” will mark David’s Broadway debut, that is, if you don’t count his fictional staring role in “The Producers” on his HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

“I thought it would be pretty cool to write a play someday. I didn’t think it’d be pretty cool to be in it,” he explains to the New York Times. He continues, “It’s not like I would go to the theater and look up on stage and say, ‘I could be in that.’ I didn’t think of myself playing the character, but of course I write characters very close to me.”

The comedian, who created “Curb,” and co-created “Seinfeld” with Jerry Seinfeld, didn’t intend to star in “Fish in the Dark.” But after showing the script to award-winning theater and film producer Scott Rudin last year, Rudin convinced him otherwise.

Plot details have yet to be revealed, but David describes the play as a comedy about a family member's death, inspired by the passing of a friend’s father.

On Tuesday, September 2, Rudin revealed to the New York Times that “Fish in the Dark” will begin preview performances on February 2, 2015 at the Cort Theater in New York, and will officially open on March 5. Some of the cast members were also announced, including Rosie Perez and Jerry Adler.

Needless to say, David's fans are pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty excited to see his debut on Broadway.
