Recently scientists came across a dinosaur that is considered the largest to ever walk the land. This animal is called the Dreadnoughtus, and it is said to be larger than seven bull African elephants. That's pretty large, which means this creature would likely make the infamous T. rex look puny in size.

For those who are wondering, the Dreadnoughtus dinosaur weighs around 65 tons, and was 85 feet in length. Furthermore, the neck in length is around 37 feet, while the tail is 30 feet. That's very massive, no wonder this beautiful creature is seven times larger than the T. rex.

Now, while the Dreadnoughtus was probably the largest dinosaur to live during the Cretaceous Period, the same period as the Tyrannosaurus rex, it doesn't mean it was the most feared. The creature is considered a plant eater, and due to its size, we doubt the carnivorous T. rex would be capable of bringing it down.

We also want to point out that the Dreadnoughtus santi weighs 10 tons more than a Boeing 737, to put that into perspective.

It is possible that meat-eating dinosaurs who hunt in packs could have taken down this massive beast, but their size would have to be similar to the T. rex or larger. In the world we live in now, it is clear that nothing is safe in the animal kingdom. The elephant is the largest land animal, but that is not enough to completely stop a hungry pride of lions.

Due to its massive size, the Dreadnoughtus probably doesn't move around a lot, and most likely spent most of its time resting and eating plant life. Such a creature would require a whole lot of plant life to survive, and even more water. Whenever this creature makes a move throughout its territory, no doubt that other dinosaurs would have no choice but to pack it up and run.

"It is by far the best example we have of any of the most giant creatures to ever walk the planet," said Dr. Kenneth Lacorvara of Drexel University in Philadelphia.

This massive creature is part of a family of dinosaurs that are known as the Titanosaurs, the largest group of dinosaurs to ever roam the earth. Among the skeleton bones the scientists found were a thigh bone and an arm bone that helped them determine just how big it was.

The bones found in the Patagonia region of Argentina were probably around 75 million to 77 millions years old, according to scientists.
