Motorola's entry level Moto E 2016 could launch anytime soon this year as the handset was seemingly spotted for R&D testing in India.

The Motorola device in question was listed at an Indian import export site known as Zauba under the codename "Affinity." According to Zauba, the third-generation handset from Motorola will feature a 5-inch display with capacitive touch and single-SIM capability.

It is speculated that the third-generation Moto E 2016 will come equipped with a fingerprint scanner, and the listing at Zauba had somehow added weight to the rumors surrounding the handset. After all, having a 5-inch display should be enough for the Moto E 2016 to accommodate the said feature.

In January, executives at Lenovo said all upcoming Moto devices will feature fingerprint scanners out of the box. Chen Xudong, the senior VP of Lenovo Group, assured that upcoming Moto-branded mobile devices shall have only top-end features with displays that shouldn't be smaller than 5 inches.

This is not the first time a Motorola handset has been spotted at an Indian testing facility. Earlier this month, we reported that the Moto X3 smartphone made its appearance at the abovementioned import and export site in India.

Many OEMs would usually send their devices to development and testing centers in India for evaluation purposes prior to launching the handsets.

The listing of Moto X3 at Zauba suggested that the device will feature a 5-inch display and will come with a single SIM GMS functionality.

If Xudong confirmed that all upcoming Motorola phones will have top-end specs, it's safe to assume that the Moto X3 may come equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor and a RAM of up to 3 GB. Moreover, it's likely that the Moto X3 will run on a pre-installed Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the majority of high-end devices in 2016 are said to have the latest Android OS version.

Lastly, the Moto E listing at Zauba also indicates the device as bearing the price of Rs5,164 (around $78). Since it is only at the testing phase, such pricing is expected to change once the handset officially launches and becomes available to consumers.
