It sure does beat the calculator watches of previous decades.

On last night's episode of "The Colbert Report," anchorman Stephen Colbert cheered for the announcement of the Apple Watch, standing up and throwing up his arms, clearly replicating the reaction that Apple CEO Tim Cook gave at the event after showing the introductory video that first unveiled the Watch to crowd and the rest of the world.

Colbert similarly mocked the enthusiasm the entire audience at the Flint Center had after that video, bursting into a standing ovation for a gadget without knowing any of its capabilities, just the name and the design shown off the slickly produced video.

And Colbert revealed that he had been waiting for something like this for a long time.

"It's finally cool to have a calculator watch! Who's the nerd now, Ben McGooken?" said Colbert. "I mean, this thing right here is going to change the way you look at your wrist!"

The Apple Watch will be released in early 2015 with a starting price of $349, coming in a variety of sizes and styles.
