Dragon stones have been part of the Dark Souls series since the first one, and to no one's surprise, they're also in the latest installment. That means Dark Souls 3 players can turn into a dragon too.

Before getting started, it should be noted that there are spoilers ahead. To cut down on spoilers as much as possible, it's advised that only players who have finished with the Consumed King's Garden should continue.

Now to become a dragon — or a humanoid dragon, for that matter — the Dragon Head Stone and Dragon Torso Stone should be at hand. It's also worth mentioning that there are the Twinkling Dragon Head Stone and Twinkling Dragon Torso Stone in the game, but compared to the two other stones sans Twinkling, they have more moves in store for the player.

Dragon Torso Stone

The Dragon Torso Stone is the first item you can get your hands on, and it's located in the open area of the Irithyll Dungeon. Starting from the Bonfire, go to the prisons by going forward and turning right. You should come across a bridge that connects the two cell blocks on your left. Cross it and turn left, and you'll find a ledge on your left again. Drop down and continue your path forward until you reach the elevator.

Once you're down, go outside and there you'll see a skeleton or statue of a dragon. Just pillage the remains and you're set to go.

Dragon Head Stone

You can get the Dragon Head Stone when you defeat the Ancient Wyvern boss in Archdragon Peak, but it's a little tricky to get there.

First off, you're going to need the Path of the Dragon emote. It can be acquired after taking down Oceiros, the Consumed King, and it's located behind his room. If you're having trouble finding the boss, we have a guide that can help you with that. Take note that you should have taken down the Dancer of the Boreal Valley to access the Consumed King's Garden.

When you get to the other room behind his chamber, go down the stairs. There's an enemy right around the corner, so be careful of that. Continue forward after the foe has been dealt with, and you should soon come across a corpse holding the Path of the Dragon gesture.

Once it's at your disposal, head back to where you found the Dragon Torso Stone and stand beside the skeleton of the dragon you got it from. Use the Path of the Dragon emote there and wait until you're transported to Archdragon Peak after a cutscene.

Now that you're in the secret area, go down the path until you see the Ancient Wyvern. Just defeat the big old thing, and you'll get the Dragon Head Stone as a reward for doing so.

Note: At this point, you can turn into a dragon already, but acquiring the Twinkling Dragon Stones will give you more dragon moves to use, as mentioned earlier.

Twinkling Dragon Torso Stone

To acquire the Twinkling Dragon Torso Stone, head on over to the Great Belfry Bonfire in Archdragon Peak. Just go through the path and take down a couple of Serpentmen and other enemies until you reach the end. There you'll find an altar where you'll use the Path of the Dragon gesture yet again. Wait for a bit and you'll get the Twinkling Dragon Torso Stone.

Twinkling Dragon Head Stone

Now go back to the Firelink Shrine and talk to the blacksmith Andre to receive Hawkwood's Swordgrass message. After getting hold of it, travel to the Abyss Watchers bonfire in Farron Keep to go toe-to-toe with Hawkwood.

If you lose, he'll take away your Dragon Stones, but you can take him on again to get back what is rightfully yours. After defeating him, you'll get the Twinkling Dragon Head Stone.

How To Turn Into A Dragon

All you have to do now is to remove all your armor and use the Dragon Stones. When you transform into a dragon, you won't go back to normal until you get killed.

As for what the Twinkling versions can do, the Twinkling Dragon Head Stone will let you breathe relatively more massive fire compared to the standard Dragon Head Stone, while the Twinkling Dragon Torso Stone will give you two huge dragon limbs to attack with.

For the record, your weapons will still be usable while in dragon form, and you'll have increased resistance against fire. However, without armor gears, you're more or less weak against physical attacks, so be wary when taking your new transformation out for a spin in PVP.

One last thing: The Dragon Stones can be used as many times as you want, so there's no need to worry that you'll run out of charges or anything along those lines.
