Game of Thrones fans get easily lost in the fictional universe when browsing the books or when binge-watching the TV series, but now there is an app to get them out of the woods.

Should you get lost in Westeros and have a trusted smartphone sidekick with you, make sure you use the Map for Game of Thrones app to pinpoint your location.

In case your flight to the seven kingdoms gets delayed because of airborne dragon presence, download the app anyway on iOS or Android to have a better grasp of the world.

But what does the app do, you ask?

It offers a full map of Westeros, which is rendered via vector graphics. This makes the map responsive and quick to browse through, in spite of its vastness. The navigations work in a similar fashion to Google Maps, with panning and zooming taking you to different locations.

The graphics could have been more detailed, but the myriad of locations that appear on the map certainly make up for the lack of intricate visual detail. For example, a number of regions, castles and cities are highlighted as points of interest, and users are able to refresh their memory in these spots.

This feature shines especially when users tap into Recap Mode. Simply select an episode that aired during the previous season, and the app places each scene across the Westeros map. What is more, some scenes come with a synopsis or a full transcript, making sure you remember who did what, when an assassination happened, how it took place and which character survived.

A welcome detail in the GoT map is the character information. By reading it, fans can keep up with the biography, episode appearance, history and meme-able quotes.

As there is no project to build a GoT encyclopedia on either iOS or Android, it looks like Map for Game of Thrones is the next best thing.

Should you be a hardcore fan of the series, you'll probably ignore the occasional ad that blocks your view of the map. Those who want unbridled access to the map can get the ad-free, PRO variant of the app on iOS and Android.

Game of Thrones enthusiasts have a myriad of apps targeted towards them, and you can read about the best of them in our coverage.
