The folks at Facebook are testing out a new feature for groups dubbed "Discover," which - as the name suggests - will aid one in searching for like-minded people or communities.

Facebook Groups is a handy tool that helps seek out new restaurants or stores in town, search for virtual communities on plethora of interests or even get parenting tips!

Now, Facebook is testing a dedicated feature called "Discover" in the Facebook Groups category, which makes it simple for users to join the conversations.

The feature will improve the manner in which people seek out groups that could appeal to them. The feature also takes into consideration different variables to suggest a group that a user may be inclined toward. It also takes into consideration the geographic location of a person, their friends' interests, as well as the user's interests to recommend a group.

The new "Discover" tab feature will allow users to browse through not only public but also closed Facebook Groups based on the category. This means you can browse on the basis of categories of such as which Facebook Group your friend is a part of or a Facebook Group in your local area. This will help one know what things are gaining popularity or the ongoing trends in their friend's circle or city are.

Since Facebook is currently testing out this tool, not everyone will be able to access it. However, if you are among the lucky few who have been selected for testing the "Discover" feature - like me - you will be able to espy the option in the Facebook Group's section. Simply tap on the More tab > Tap on Groups to see if the "Discover" tab option is available to you.

The "Discover" tab will enable a user to select from 25 available categories that range from Sport, Outdoor Activities, Buy, Sell, Trade; Animals & Pets; Parenting, Photography and more. If you tap on any of these categories, suggestions for some themed groups will be thrown up. In the event you do not wish to tap or scroll through the specific categories, you can browse through the top group in each category instead (by scrolling up or down on the list).

The new feature is targeted at improving the user experience and enhancing their engagement. It is yet to be rolled out to all Facebook users, and if you do not have access to it yet, do not fret - the social networking site has revealed that it intends to push out the "Discover" feature to more users of the site in the near term.
