Apple has finally revealed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and members of the media were first in line to get a first-hand taste of what the new iPhones are capable of.

Generally, reactions toward the new iPhone 6 models have been positive. However, many also saw this as an opportunity to point out that Apple's new offerings represent the company's acceptance that the use of bigger screens is simply not a trend. But even if it was, Apple surely didn't mind joining the bandwagon, with four million pre-orders pouring in for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in just one day.

So what do people in tech think about the new iPhones?

TechCrunch dubs the iPhone 6 "the best smartphone currently available." That's a big deal given that there's no shortage of impressive smartphone models from various brands these days. The iPhone 6 Plus is still an incredible unit but Darrell Etherington believes the 4.7-inch model will fit better with most users.

Over at Engadget, comprehensive reviews of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus yielded high scores for both models but the smaller iPhone 6 won out because of some handling issues with the bigger model. Both had gorgeous displays but the iPhone 6 Plus edged out the 4.7-incher because of its bigger screen and optical image stabilization feature. Brad Molen docked points for both units since NFC can only be used for mobile payments.

Re/code had the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus separately reviewed. For Walt Mossberg, the iPhone 6 is undoubtedly the best in the market today because of the way Apple was able to combine its hardware and software and how well the new model integrates into the company's existing ecosystem. For Lauren Goode, the iPhone 6 Plus had an impressive battery life, most especially since it was a bigger device, lasting well over a day on a single charge.

Those outside of the tech world will be able to get their hands on the iPhone 6 starting Sept. 19 if they pre-ordered. However, Apple warns that due to the volume of pre-orders some customers might not get their units until early October. A 16GB version of the iPhone 6 will retail for $199 while the 64GB variant will cost $299. For the 128GB iPhone 6 model, expect to shell out $399. But all of these prices are paired with a two-year contract. Without commitment, a 16GB iPhone 6 will cost $649, the 64GB model $749, and the 128GB unit $849.
