Samsung has a new 10.1-inch Android tablet on the market with which it is looking to entice consumers — meet the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016).

On May 10, Samsung Germany unveiled the 10.1-inch tablet in the Galaxy Tab A 2016 series in Europe. The device will hit the shelves a month later in June.

"The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 A (2016) is available from the beginning of June in the German retail sector. With a 10.1-inch (25.54 cm) screen and high resolution, the modern tablet is ideal for mobile entertainment," notes the company in a press release.

The tablet has been rumored for a while now, and with the official confirmation, Samsung has put to rest all speculations.

In March this year, we reported that a Polish retailer had listed the Galaxy Tab A tablet on its site. The premature listing had come as a surprise, as Samsung had not officially announced the device, which led many to believe that it was an accident by the retailer.

Now with Samsung officially taking the wraps off the Galaxy Tab A 10.1, consumers will soon be able to pre-order the device.

Aimed at budget-conscious buyers, the tablet is quite svelte and sports a 10.1-inch WUXGA TFT PLS screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. For those wondering what PLS is, it is basically a Plane to Line switching panel, which is like the IPS ones. This technology is proprietary to Samsung.

Under the hood, the tablet houses an Exynos 7870 octa-core processor, which is clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The tablet comes with 16 GB of on-board storage, which can be expanded further to a maximum of 200 GB with a microSD card.

Weighing 525 grams (1.16 pounds), the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is just 8.2 mm thick and boasts an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfie lovers.

The tablet also touts a 7,300 mAh battery and offers support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. It will come pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and also have a multi-user mode, which will enable up to 8 users to create their profiles on the device.

The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will go on sale in June in Europe and be available in two hues: black and white. The Wi-Fi only model will set consumers back by €289 ($329), whereas the LTE version is priced at €349 ($397).
