While Valve has not officially announced that there will be a Steam Summer Sale this year, a Redditor has revealed the dates for this year's edition of the promotion.

The Reddit user, who goes by the handle MrFreemanBBQ, also leaked the dates for last year's Summer Sale before Valve officially announced the promotion, with the same information then posted on VK, a social network in Russia. The Redditor has been able to leak the dates of several other events, including 2012's Summer Sale and 2013's Holiday Sale.

For this year's Summer Sale, MrFreemanBBQ posted a screenshot on Reddit of a message that is part English and part Russian. With the Russian words translated, the message states that Steam's Summer Sale 2016 will run from June 23, 9:45 a.m. PT to July 4, 10:00 a.m. PT.

The message is said to be from Valve, and given the Redditor's track record of authentic leaks on Steam promotions, gamers looking forward to this year's Steam Summer Sale should mark the dates on their calendars.

Valve is seemingly just not able to keep the dates of its promotions on Steam hidden. In addition to the events that were leaked by MrFreemanBBQ, Valve also saw its annual Steam Winter Sale of 2015 spoiled by none other than payments portal PayPal. A screenshot taken by NeoGAF on the PayPal website spoiled the Winter Sale to begin on Dec. 22, a date which Valve had not yet revealed at the time.

A more recent leak involving Steam revealed the release date of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion pack, when previous rumors claimed that the DLC will be landing on June 7. The DLC site was put up on Steam mistakenly before being taken down, but it was up long enough for users to grab screenshots of the May 30 release date.
