Solid fans of Treyarch’s first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops may now rejoice as the game is officially back compatible on Xbox One, according to Microsoft.

Xbox’s Larry Hryb confirmed this news on his Twitter account on May 17, saying:

Last year, Black Ops was among the backward compatible titles that were tipped to be rolled out for the current-gen console. As such, quite a few fans were waiting for its arrival.

Now that it is officially released for the Xbox One, fans who still have the game’s disk version will only need to slip it into the console to play it. Those who do not have the copy, however, can buy it at the Xbox Store for $9.99.

It is also worth mentioning that Black Ops’ add-on packs, including First Strike, Annihilation, Escalation and Rezurrection carry the price tag of $14.99 each. A Season Pass option, though, is not available to buy for this first-person shooter.

Set during the Cold War era in 1960, Black Ops transports players to different places across the globe, such as Laos, Cuba, Hong Kong, USSR, South Vietnam, Siberia and the Arctic circles. The players’ goal is to stop Nova-6, an experimental weapon.

In other backward compatibility news, Microsoft announced a few days ago that multi-disc Xbox 360 games are now working on Xbox One, even though earlier reports said it was impossible.

Hryb took to social media, particularly on Reddit, to share this big news to gamers who have been waiting for the multi-disc Xbox 360 games to be supported.

"I can confirm that the BC team has done work to support multi-disc scenarios. Be sure to thank the BC engineers," Hryb said.

In the meantime, if you wish to check out the current list of Xbox One Backward Compatible titles, head on over to this list. Of course, the updated list now includes Call of Duty: Black Ops.
