The trailer for the Assassin's Creed film dropped last week, and lo and behold, it actually looked kind of good (minus the music). With any luck, the film can break free of the video game movie curse, staying faithful to the game franchise while delivering a quality film in the process.

If, however, staying true to the game franchise means special edition movie tickets and preorder bonuses, perhaps we'd rather it be as unfaithful as possible. Alas, that's exactly what's happening.

The game franchise has become notorious for preorder bonus missions and other gimmicks over the years, and those same marketing strategies have now found their way into the Assassin's Creed movie. Fans can preorder limited edition tickets for the upcoming film, tickets that come with various extra bonuses and collectibles.

Paying $15 will snag fans who can't get enough of the franchise a ticket to the movie in December as well as a digital copy of the script and behind-the-scenes extras. The prices only go up from there. For $25, fans can get the script, extras and a ticket, along with a T-shirt. Paying $40 gets everything previously mentioned, along with a watch. Paying $50 gets fans a number of collectible toys, though this option is currently sold out. Shell out $60, and you'll get a replica hidden blade to go alongside your movie ticket and script.

Those are the cheap ones. For $120, fans can snag an admittedly stylish Assassin's Creed hoodie. The special edition ticket offers then exponentially increase in price. Paying $600 will get fans a ticket to the film, along with a statue of Michael Fassbender's assassin character Aguilar, while paying a whopping $1,200 will score fans a replica Spanish crossbow almost identical to one featured in the movie during a "pivotal scene." Only 15 of the crossbow editions are currently available.

It all seems completely goofy, yet, it seems that there are some fans who are interested. The $50 tier is already sold out, and it appears that at least one person has already purchased the $1,200 crossbow edition. Maybe this is the future of movie ticket sales? If it is, we want out.
