Hundreds came from all over the world to be among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus which were launched in Australia on Sept. 19.

As anticipated, the lines wrapped around the streets up to blocks away, with some fans starting to line up for days outside the store before the big event.

Many local stores made an event on the first day of sales by hiring DJ's to entertain the droves of people in the lines and offering coffee, games, and goodie-bags to those who had been camping out for up to a week before the big day.

Apple stores around the country ordered extra security for the record-breaking first day of sales.

When the stores finally opened for customers to purchase the new phones, they were greeted by Apple workers in blue shirts cheering them on and chanting to them.

For the Apple community in Australia, it's all part of the Apple experience.

"It becomes more about the event and being part of something rather than a single hardware or device. Apple is built on such a community. We all stay up until the wee hours of the morning to watch product releases and keynotes and this is our way to be a part of it," said Cobey Parnell as he waited in line outside the Apple CBD store.

But, as with any community, some bad elements were unavoidable, such as those who sought to cash-in on the popularity of the newest phones and offering their pre-orders for sale online with up to $1000 mark-up in value.

Others even offered their services for $300 up to $800 to simply stand in line for others.

While some stores gave out number cards and arranged scheduled times for pick-up for pre-orders, other stores did not, and lines ballooned in the front as friends joined their companions at the start of the lines.

Nevertheless, the grand launch was celebrated all over Australia with many fans undaunted by the crowds and many hours of waiting just to get their own iPhone 6.
