The 24th annual Ig Nobel prizes have been announced and winners have accepted their award with a sense of humor.

The Ig Nobel awards were presented by science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research at an award ceremony in Howard University's Sanders Theater on Thursday, Sept. 18, which included researchers and scientists from across the world. However, the awards are presented by genuine Noble laureates.

The organizers of the awards say that the achievements make the scientists laugh and then think. Just like previous years, this year's edition also gave awards to studies that serious work conducted by scientists but make people laugh unintentionally.

British researcher Amy Jones received the Ig Noble award in psychology. Her study included understanding the behavior of people who stayed up late at night. Her study suggests that people who stayed up late habitually are believed to be manipulative, self-admiring and psychopathic. Her study also revealed that people who display such traits have better jobs and more sexual partners.

Researchers from Canada and China grabbed the Ig Nobel prize for neuroscience. The researchers put the minds of many people at rest as their study suggests that it is normal for people to see Jesus Christ's face on toast. Kang Lee, a researcher of the study from the University of Toronto suggests that as people recognize faces; their brain can visualize them on objects such as on toast. The scientists also conducted brain scan to understand what happens in the brain when people see Jesus on a piece of toast.

Scientists from Japan were awarded the Ig Nobel prize for their work in physics. The award may make people go bananas as the scientists of the study tried to measure the friction between a person's shoe and a banana skin, and the friction between the banana skin and the floor. The study was successful to measure friction from the banana skin and at the same time they also reaffirmed that banana skins are slippery. Professor Kiyoshi Mabuchi of Kitasato University in Kanagawa, who led the research, accepted the award and also said that he was glad to get the award.

The entire Italian government received the Ig Noble prize for economics. In difficult financial situations in entire Europe, Italy was successfully able to increase its economy, which includes sources of revenue from smuggling, illegal drugs and prostitution.
