Electronics manufacturers are committed to upping the ante with each release and this year's LG Fridge is no exception.
The LFXS30786S refrigerator costs "only" $3,999 and features something that last year's model lacked: embedded Bluetooth speakers.
The smart device comes in a rather standard model equipped with big-capacity French doors. The Bluetooth speaker that sits atop its rim makes all kitchen activities more palatable.
We must mention that LG showcased an expensive fridge model last year, which had a price point of slightly more than $2,500. This simply shows that the device is not terribly expensive because of the Bluetooth speakers, but that it simply inherited a pricey design in the first place. By adding the speaker, LG simply adds another unique selling point to the kitchen appliance.
Based on our user experience, people prefer listening to the radio in the kitchen whether they are cooking dinner, washing dishes or simply enjoying their morning coffee before heading for work. Installing the Bluetooth speaker in the appliance is a good idea as it saves quite a bit of space, which would otherwise be cluttered by a physical radio.
LG is not the first company to deploy built-in speakers in its fridge. At CES 2014, Whirlpool presented its CoolVox fridge speakers and in 2015 it showcased a French-door fridge that sported embedded audio hardware.
Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled the Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator, which comes not only with speakers, but also features Wi-Fi radio and a hefty 21.5-inch touch screen. The generous display allows users to see messages from connected smartphones and even post images. The screen is also useful if you want to purchase food by tapping into the Groceries app, courtesy of MasterCard.
Looking under the hood of LG's smart fridge we find a 30-cubic foot model equipped with the proprietary "Door-in-Door" feature. This ensures that you can get your favorite food items without having to open the entire fridge. Another feature is the Slim SpacePlus ice maker, which is a great addition for parties and hot summer days.
