Yes, a live-action Fruit Ninja movie is in the works, making the Halfbrick Studios mobile game the most recent to be adapted for the big screen. The news comes as the Angry Birds movie gears up for a weekend release.

According to an exclusive report, Tripp Vinson will be producing the movie under Vinson Films, with Chad Damiani and J.P. Lavin penning the script. Tara Farney and Sam White are also on-board as executive producers for what is planned to be a family comedy.

Fruit Ninja is available for download on iOS and Android devices and through Amazon. The Android version of the app recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, adding exclusive challenges for users to enjoy.

New blade and dojo modifiers have also been introduced, bumping up the look and feel of the game. Special surprises and bonus skills are also being offered for the best fruit slicers around.

Will these game components be included in the live-action movie? That is yet to be seen (or heard), as no other details about the live-action Fruit Ninja movie have been released.

There's no shortage of films being adapted from mobile and video games. Warcraft, Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed and Sly Cooper are due to come out in 2016 while fans of Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell will have to wait for 2017 to see their favorite games come to life. Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Colossus and Dead Island have not announced release dates yet.
