Samsung, the world's no.1 smartphone maker, will finally release its much-awaited Tizen-powered device in India before 2014 ends. The announcement came from Tarun Malik, director of Samsung's Media Solutions Center in Southwest Asia. The Galaxy maker's headquarters in Seoul hasn't made any comment yet.

The Tizen mobile OS is Samsung's own venture in the growing mobile ecosystem, which is designed to parallel Apple's iOS and Google's Android. The latter is currently used as the driving force behind all of Samsung devices.

Malik said that the upcoming Tizen device in India will coexist with the Android devices. If the release date in November pushes through as planned, devices powered by the Tizen OS will surely bring a change in the global operating system market, which currently has Apple's iOS and Google's Android as the top key players.

Tizen revolves around an open source type of operating system that is designed for smart devices being promoted by Samsung, Huawei, Intel and other tech players. So far, Samsung assumes the leading spot when it comes to the development of the Tizen technology. Some of its wearables, which include the highly talked about Gear smartwatches, are already designed with the Tizen OS.

This isn't the first time that the market has heard about a Tizen-powered smartphone. Rumors of the said device have already been circulating since last year. It also appears as though Samsung is not the only company that's interested to build the market for Tizen devices. NTT Docomo of Japan made similar plans of releasing their own Tizen smartphone this year. However, the company decided to delay its plan and added that "the Japanese market is not large enough to have three operating systems."

Back in June this year, Samsung launched the Tizen-powered Samsung Z at an event in San Francisco dubbed as the Tizen Developer Conference. The device features an HD Super active mode organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display of 4.8 inches, a Quad core application processor of 2.3GHz and a battery of 2600mAh. It also features a fingerprint sensor for security purposes and a design that's said to be slim and angular.

Earlier this year, Samsung had planned to start retailing its Tizen-powered Samsung Z in Russia at the Q3 of 2014. However, the plan had to be shelved since the Tizen ecosystem still lacks sufficient apps and developers.

It was not confirmed whether the soon-to-launch Tizen device in India is the same Tizen-powered Samsung Z that was supposed to launch in Russia. Perhaps the device can be Samsung's next contender in the Indian smartphone industry, which is currently dominated by Micromax as far as mobile handset sales is concerned.
