Modular phones have picked up lately and flagship models Moto Z Force and LG G5 are leading the pack because of their expansion options.

While the modules compatible with Lenovo's phones go under the name of Moto Mods, LG's expansion modules are dubbed LG Friends. We pitted them against one another to show you what each of them puts on the table.

LG CAM Plus

Photography lovers can spend $69.99 for the LG CAM Plus. The module gives users a comfortable grip and the controls resemble the ones on regular cameras. With the LG CAM Plus, you get to use physical buttons for the shutter, zoom and record functions. An LED indicator will keep you informed on the battery levels.

The module comes with an embedded battery, which means more shooting time.

LG 360 CAM

With the LG 360 CAM, users can record 360-degree content. The module contains two 13-megapixel wide-angle cameras that cover a perspective of 200 degrees. The module allows the capturing of 2K video and 5.1 surround channel audio. The manufacturer gifted the module with a 1,200 mAh battery for prolonged video recording.

Moto Insta-Share Projector

The Moto Z Force might not be able to simulate a vintage camera in the way LG does when it is equipped with modules, but it does offer a different entertainment feature: the Moto Insta-Share Projector. With this connected to your handset, you can project a 70-inch screen onto any flat surface. This can be useful in business meetings or during the holidays when you want to share memories with your family.

The Insta-Share Projector comes with a built-in 1,100 mAh battery.

JBL SoundBoost Speaker

Music lovers can boost the Moto Z Force's ability to play rich sounds via the JBL SoundBoost Speaker. The 1,000 mAh power source ensures an extra 10 hours' worth of music for your handset. It should be mentioned that the module comes with a neat kickstand, so video-watching with improved acoustics becomes a sound possibility.

LG TONE Platinum

LG Friends has its own module for sound enhancing. Meet the LG TONE Platinum, a premium pair of headsets that can be yours for a price of $199.99. Why the high price point? Well, the headset supports 24-bit audio with a platinum grade from Harman Kardon.

Also, the LG TONE Platinum is a headset with Bluetooth capability that delivers improved bass, while also sporting noise-canceling capabilities thanks to its two microphones.
