Rovio is releasing a Transformers version of its popular Angry Birds franchise in select parts of the world, including New Zealand and Finland.

Angry Birds Transformers will be released in other countries, including the U.S., on October 15.

The new title is set to be rather different from other games in the Angry Birds franchise, and will be a side-scrolling shoot 'em up game in which users must shoot through several enemies, including the "Deceptihogs."

"Take out swarms of enemies and topple piggy towers with strategically placed shots-but leave the slingshot at home 'cos these birds are packin' some serious firepower," says the teaser videos description on YouTube.

Players will also be given the choice of playing as the good team as one of the Autobirds, or on the Deceptihogs team. Both teams have set aside their differences in the game to take down the EggBots.

The game will automatically scroll as users shoot at enemies, even able to shift between car form and robot form.

The game is somewhat of a throwback to classic retro games as well as the Transformers cartoon that it is loosely based on.

Rovio originally announced a team-up with Hasbro for the game in June and has been teasing the game ever since. It will be officially released to iOS on October 15 and to Google Play on October 30.

Hasbro will introduce a number of new products later this year that feature its Telepods technology and allow users to "teleport" Angry Birds Transformers characters into the game and gain new power.

"This mash-up is going to appeal to those who grew up with the brand in the '80s, as well as fans of the brand today," said Chief Marketing Officer at Rovio, Blanca Juti. "People are going to love it."

The team at Rovio has been devising different ideas for the Angry Birds line of late. The company also released another spinoff of the game called Angry Birds Stella, which was announced at Comic-Con 2013.

The game allows users to explore Golden Island playing as Stella, the lead character in the game. While exploring the island, it is discovered that Gale, the "bad princess" is causing trouble, and steals Stella's map, after which Stella and her team have to chase Gale around the island in an attempt to get the map back and stop Gale.
