Walmart has reduced the price of the iPhone 5s and the iPad mini 2 on its website.

The iPhone 5s is more than two years old and the arrival of newer iPhone models has resulted in a decline in sales of the older-gen models. However, the iPhone 5s packs in impressive features suitable for customers looking for an entry-level device.

The iPhone 5s sports a 4-inch LED-backlit IPS screen with 1,136 x 640 pixels resolution and 326 ppi. The handset runs on the company's own A7 processor and M7 coprocessor.

The Apple smartphone is equipped with an 8-megpaixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel selfie camera. The mobile phone has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that offers up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 10 days of standby time.

iPhone 5s customers can get up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback. At launch, the iPhone 5s came running on iOS 7 but over the last two years the mobile phone has received a number of updates and Apple has also rolled out the latest iOS 9 to the handset.

Apple has stopped selling the iPhone 5s from its website after the launch of the iPhone SE. However, customers can grab the 16 GB variant of the smartphone for just $149 from Walmart, which is a discount of $301.

Apart from the iPhone 5s, Walmart is also offering the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version of the iPad mini 2 for $229. The retailer is selling both the silver and space gray color options. The 32 GB model of the iPad mini 2 is available on Walmart for $279. Customers will find the 16 GB version of the tablet for $269 and the 32 GB iteration for $319 from the company's web store. The launch price of the 16 GB iPad mini 2 was $399.

Just like the iPhone 5s, Apple launched the iPad mini 2 in 2013. The 7.9-inch iPad mini 2 has the same design as its predecessor but the inclusion of a Retina display was one of the major updates for the tablet.

"Photos and videos look incredibly detailed and text is razor sharp on the stunning Retina display, which features over 3.1 million pixels - a million more than an HDTV," says Apple.

The Apple offering runs on an A7 processor and M7 motion processor.

The iPad mini 2 does not have Touch ID and fingerprint sensor, features that were added from the iPad mini 3.

The price reduction will entice customers looking to buy a new entry-level iPhone or a 7.9-inch tablet. The iPhone 5s and the iPad mini 2 also make for a great Father's Day gift this year.
