Eating at KFC just got more interesting, as you can charge your phone with a box of chicken.

Yes, you read that right. KFC launched what it calls the "Watt a Box" in India, which is a box of chicken that has a built-in power bank with outlets and cables so you can charge your iPhone or Android device.

If you're one of those people who take photos of their meal and post it online before actually eating it, this charging on the go could prove to be quite useful.

Back in March, KFC started offering a 5-in-1 Meal Box that proved to be very popular and in demand. The new Watt a Box now comes as a special variant of that 5-in-1 Meal Box, aiming to make it even more popular.

If the regular 5-in-1 Meal Box aims to cover all your fast food needs, the special variant goes even further to cover your charging needs as well.

According to Times of India, a few lucky customers will get their 5-in-1 Meal in a Watt a Box at select KFC locations in Delhi and Mumbai. Interested customers can also participate in a contest on KFC's Facebook page for a chance to win more special 5-in-1 Meal boxes with built-in power banks.

"We launched the 5-in-1 Meal Box in March this year with the objective of providing an abundant complete meal and at an affordable price for our customers," says KFC India CMO Lluis Ruiz Ribot. "With the launch of Watt a Box, we have gone a step ahead and also introduced an element of utility into the box."

The executive further notes that we have come to rely on our smartphones so much on a daily basis that running out of battery is close to a nightmare, but the KFC Watt a Box won't let it happen.

This is not the first time that a popular fast food chain tries to integrate technology to attract more customers. Back in April, for instance, McDonald's installed Samsung Galaxy tablets in select locations across the UK so customers would have an innovative experience.

KFC may not be adding tablets, but charging stations in a box filled with chicken doesn't sound too bad either. It remains unclear at this point whether KFC will eventually extend this gimmick in more cities or additional countries besides India.
