Logging into Star Wars Battlefront this weekend will reward players with 5,000 credits free of charge, a move that is presumably DICE's way of participating in Europe's Star Wars Celebration.

The giveaway was mentioned on Twitter by user TheMigueltronic, and true enough, logging into the game gives players 5,000 credits free.

Aside from the free credits, playing this weekend also makes every Hero character accessible, whether or not their associated DLCs have been downloaded. Notifications about the Hero availability are received after logging in.

A video game panel at the Star Wars Celebration promised some news so new details about Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels' season 3 and even Star Wars: Episode VIII are to be expected.

DICE recently confirmed that the game's offline mode will be coming July 20, allowing those who prefer to play alone the chance to enjoy the large-scale skirmishes seen in online multiplayer battles.

Called Skirmish, the offline mode will let players participate in Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron battles against bots offline. It will also feature split-screen play support and two difficulty levels.

Star Wars Battlefront's offline mode was a feature that players have long been asking for since the game doesn't have single-player campaigns. There are already missions in the game that are available online but gameplay is not in the same level as multiplayer battles online.

Free of charge, Skirmish will let players duke it out with bots in massive battles in the air or on the ground, depending on where they prefer to take their fights.

Also free are more Hutt Contracts that will be added to the game in the coming weeks, as well as free trial periods for the Bespin DLC and more in-game events.

In September, the Death Star-themed expansion for Star Wars Battlefront will be released. It will feature new maps in space and on the ground, new Star Cards, new weapons and two new Heroes.

One of the Heroes is said to be "larger than life" so it sounds a lot like Chewbacca will be headed for Star Wars Battlefront as a new hero for the Rebel Alliance. However, this has not been confirmed. Hopefully more information about the DLC will be revealed during the Star Wars Celebration in Europe so fans won't have to wait long to know who the two new Heroes will be, as well as what other goodies await them in Star Wars Battlefront.

Who do you think the new Heroes will be? Sound off in the comments below!
