HP has a cool new Powerup Backpack that can charge your laptop, phone and tablet on the go, thanks to its massive 22,400 mAh battery pack.

One of the challenges travelers often face is running out of battery on their devices, since you might not always be close to an outlet to charge a laptop or mobile gadgets. Portable battery packs are rising in popularity but may not always suffice.

HP just might have the solution to such woes, as its nifty Powerup Backpack can provide enough juice to keep your laptop running up to one extra full life, charge your tablet up to three times over, or your phone up to 10 times over. Of course, it will also depend on the device's battery capacity.

The backpack comes bundled with two micro USB cables for Android devices and one laptop cable. However, it seems the HP Powerup Backpack has no love for Apple devices at this point, as it doesn't have any bundled cords or adapters for iGadgets. Recharging the backpack is easy thanks to the side pocket plugin.

When it comes to design, the HP Powerup Backpack doesn't look too different from any other backpack from the outside, but it does have a few perks to keep your charging devices safe.

First of all, the bag is designed with ventilation holes to keep devices from overheating while charging. Another hole makes it easy and convenient to get the headphone cables out so you can listen to music or other audio while your device is tucked away inside, charging.

Priority charge lets you set which devices you want to juice up first, while a built-in sensor will monitor the temperature to ensure the backpack doesn't get too hot.

While it sounds like a treasure for travelers always on the go, the HP Powerup Backpack may pose some hurdles in terms of travel regulations, especially on planes.

The HP Powerup Backpack is rated at 84 Wh, which means it passes the FAA's requirements, as only batteries over 100 Wh are banned from being checked in or boarded onto planes. Other countries, however, might have different regulations in place so it might be risky to take it on international flights.

Otherwise, the gadget seems like a great value-for-money offer. It costs $199 and is now available for preorder on Amazon, with shipping set to begin on Oct. 1. Considering the convenience and power it brings, $199 sounds like a reasonable price tag.
