Xiaomi's next flagship device, the Mi Note 2, is expected to be launched soon, which is why the rumor mill is continuously churning out leaks on the upcoming phablet.

Among the most recent leaks on the Mi Note 2 is that the smartphone will be the first Xiaomi product that will be powered by 6 GB of RAM and will feature the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The device is also said to look very similar to the Galaxy S7 edge, borrowing several design aspects from Samsung's previous flagship smartphone.

A leaked screenshot seems to further confirm that the Mi Note 2 will feature 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, and will come with Android 7.0 Nougat, the latest version of the mobile operating system, right out of the box.

However, the image also showed that instead of the previously reported Snapdragon 821, the Mi Note 2 will be coming with the less powerful Snapdragon 820. The leak showed a CPU running on a clock speed that would be more in line with the Snapdragon 820 as opposed to the Snapdragon 821, which has higher clock speed by 10 percent.

There have also been rumors that Xiaomi will be releasing two models of the Mi Note 2, one with 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage and the other with 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage. The leak confuses that claim, as it shows a device with the lower internal storage but with the higher RAM.

Meanwhile, renders for the Mi Note 2, acquired by Android Pure, revealed that the smartphone comes with a dual curved edge display, a dual camera setup at the back and a USB Type-C port. With these specifications and the design of the device, Xiaomi is looking even more like a clone of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

The Mi Note 2 is said to be coming with a price tag of 2,499 Chinese yuan, which is equivalent to about $375, with the more powerful model to be sold at 2,799 yuan, which is about $420.

It is unclear when Xiaomi will be officially unveiling the smartphone, but with the annual IFA trade show to start later this week, Xiaomi fans are hoping that the Mi Note 2 will be revealed very soon.

Xiaomi has recently struggled in the lucrative Chinese smartphone market, tumbling to the fourth spot behind Huawei, OPPO and Vivo. The company, however, recently reasserted its interest in officially entering the U.S. market.
