Everyone knows that ordering takeout and binge-watching goes hand-in-hand. Now, one the popular pizza chains is helping consumers place their orders in between episodes of their favorite series directly from their television screens.

Papa John's announced on Tuesday the launch of its app for Apple TV in its mission to help bring people together over quality pizza and their favorite TV shows.

It's usually the company's competitor Domino's that makes headlines for its tech-savvy ways of ordering, such as customers being able to tweet a pizza emoji or use Amazon Echo. However, Papa John's is further innovating the ways to easily get some cheesy pies delivered by being the first pizza app for Apple TV that allows customers to customize their orders.

The Papa John's Apple TV app works similarly to its mobile app and website. Arguably, the best part is being able to build the customer's own pizza using the builder function.

Along with pizza, consumers can also add to their carts other Papa John's menu items, like side dishes, drinks and desserts. Customers can also save their favorites, view recent orders and save payment information so that when they are ready to order their large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese before launching Netflix, they can do so with just one tap from their smart TV.

"Pizza and entertainment are a natural fit," 'Papa John' Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John's, said in a press release. "With the launch of our Apple TV app, we're hoping to make family movie night and friend gatherings around the TV even more enjoyable by delivering the same quality product and experience our customers expect in a convenient and interactive way."

The icing on the cake is that Papa John's is giving Apple TV users 25 percent off their order when they place it via the new app, along with the ability to earn reward points on their future orders.

The launch of the app for Apple TV with customizable order is not the company's "industry first," it stresses. Papa John's was the first pizza chain to introduce digital ordering in the U.S. back in 2001, as well as the first pizza brand to allow customers to text to order in 2007.

The Papa John's Apple TV app is available to download for free from the App Store on the smart television, and is compatible with the 4th generation of Apple TV.
