Premium plug-in electric vehicle (EV) maker Fisker Karma has launched the 2017 Karma Revero hybrid sports car.

During a private event, the carmaker officially unveiled the 2017 Revero luxury hybrid car to a select group of retailers, customers and media on Sept. 8.

"The car unveiled tonight was designed with a specific customer in mind. Karma customers are self-made, proud, risk-takers who love cars, and they can tell you about each one they have owned since childhood," says Jim Taylor, chief revenue officer of Karma. "We are building each Revero with the workmanship and attention to detail required for a discerning customer looking for a car without compromises."

The latest Revero looks very similar to the original Fisker Karma from a distance. However, the 2017 Karma Revero has a new grille, side vents and long bi-xenon headlights. The car also has novel emblems that are hand painted on the rear as well as on the front.

The inside of the car is also very impressive. The 2017 Karma Revero has a touchscreen infotainment system, which is simple to use very intuitive in comparison to its predecessor.

"There is beauty in simplicity. An intuitive touch screen interface controls the vehicle's premium audio, navigation and personal drive settings without complex toggles and switches. The elegant diamond design language is a Karma signature, which echoes the diamond inlets on the front and rear of the car," says Karma.

However, the car gets a new feature - Apple CarPlay - a smarter way of using an iPhone in the car. CarPlay puts an iPhone directly in the infotainment system's display, making it easier for users to access the smartphone for getting directions, making calls, receiving messages and more. The battery pack has a capacity of 21.1 kWh, which is an improvement of 1 kWh compared to the older version. A fast-charging feature enables owners to get 80 percent battery charge within 24 minutes.

The electric-only range of the car is 50 miles, up from 32 miles in the car's predecessor. The electric car also has a new solar roof panel that brings an additional 1.5 miles after sitting under the sun. The acceleration has also been improved, and Karma claims that the new 2017 Karma Revero can reach from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.4 seconds while in the Sport mode.

The luxury hybrid sedan has a list price of $130,000 and it is being built at the company's Moreno Valley production facility.

Customers will be able to preorder their 2017 Revero from late September. However, Karma has not announced when the car will reach showrooms.
