Though Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice didn't go over so well with critics and casual moviegoers alike, there's no denying that the film goes the extra mile when it comes to including Easter eggs for hard-core fans.

From references and numerous other DC characters to teasing future events, there are plenty of references for fans to catch and pick apart in the movie. This newly discovered Easter egg, however, might be too obscure for even some of the biggest DC comic fans.

YouTube movie reviewer Critical Mas recently noticed something unusual during one of the film's fight scenes: a broken window that looked almost identical to the Canadian province of Ontario. That led to Critical Mas wondering if the shape could actually be an Easter egg, one referencing the fact that Superman co-creator Joe Shuster was born in Ontario.

So what's the answer? Easter egg or coincidence? According to photographer Clay Enos, who has worked with director Zack Snyder on numerous projects including Batman v Superman, the broken window is indeed a reference to Shuster's place of birth. Enos said he showed the comparison image to Snyder himself, who replied "finally someone noticed."

Of course, that wasn't good enough for some fans who are still upset with Snyder over his handling of the DC film universe. Some fans claim Snyder is simply admitting to the Easter egg after the fact, with the broken glass looking like Ontario simply being a happy coincidence that Snyder is now taking credit for.

There's just no pleasing some people, and it's impossible to know for sure whether or not the window was intentional or not. Either way, it's yet another little secret for fans to find in the movie while they wait for Snyder to finish filming Justice League, which is set to release next year.

DC's Geoff Johns recently revealed that the Justice League film will have a different tone from Snyder's previous DC cinematic universe films, something that can already be seen in the film's first trailer. The movie will also be tackling the subject of Batman's brutality in Batman v Superman. The character branded and even killed numerous criminals over the course of the movie, something many Batman fans took issue with.
