Bethesda Softworks has released the minimum and recommended system requirements for its up-and-coming survival horror title "The Evil Within," and the game proves to consume quite a bit of resources.

As noted in the game publisher's user forums, "The Evil Within" can only run on 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems with at least an Intel i7 quad-core processor or equivalent and a 1GB VRAM card, but Bethesda recommends a GeForce GTX 670 graphics card or any equivalent with 4GB of VRAM to provide a high-definition 1080p gaming experience. Shinji Mikami, the same developer known for the popular "Resident Evil" horror fiction franchise, built the game to be playable at 30 frames per second with an aspect ratio of 2:35:1.

Bethesda also says 4K is supported for gamers with 4K-compatible monitor and video card. Gamers will also need a PC with 4GB of RAM and 50GB of hard drive space for storage. Bethesda notes the game will occupy only 41GB of space once installed.

"The team has worked the last four years perfecting the game experience with these settings in mind," says Bethesda. "For PC players, we'll provide debug commands on how you can alter the framerate and aspect ratio, but these commands and changes are not recommended or supported and we suggest everyone play the game as it was designed and intended for the best experience."

The publisher also released a new video trailer for the game that offers gamers some tips and tricks for navigating the dark and twisty world of "The Evil Within." The contemporary gothic title stars detective Sebastian Castellanes, who heads to an abandoned insane asylum over reports of a disturbance only to discover a group of dead policemen and the story of a deranged scientist and his gruesome experiments on human victims.

The trailer will take gamers through the secret traps and hidden obstacles of the haunted mansion and will also show gamers how they can use one-press action-based controls, such as pressing a certain button to go into stealth mode and slip into cupboards or under the bed and avoid enemies they can't extinguish. It also highlights the game's new upgrading system, which fully reflects the title's themes of mutilation and transmogrification, where Castellanes straps himself to a chair and injects vials of luminescent green slime to add to his powers and capabilities.

"The Evil Within" will become available for PC as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Oct. 14.
