Samsung's worldwide recall for the Galaxy Note 7 continues, as the company races to have the smartphones replaced before they do further damage and cause additional injuries due to their exploding batteries.

Several reports are claiming that the replacement units for the Galaxy Note 7 have started to reach owners of the recalled smartphone in the United States. However, the signs that were previously said to mark the units which are sure to have no faulty batteries have changed, according to users who have received the replacement devices.

It was previously reported from a press release by the Australia division of Samsung that replacement units will have identifiers on the box, specifically a small black square on the white barcode label and a white sticker with a blue S.

In addition to these signs on the Galaxy Note 7 box, Samsung added that for the replacements units, the battery indicator found on top of the smartphone's display will be green instead of white.

However, in the posted images of Galaxy Note 7 owners on a Reddit thread, it seems that Samsung is not following these signs for the replacement units. According to the users who have received the replacement devices, there is no white sticker with a blue S on the white barcode label of the boxes. Instead, the small black square is much larger, compared with what was shown by Samsung's Australia division.

In addition, the battery indicator of the replacement device is still white, and not the green battery indicator that users were expecting.

Galaxy Note 7 owners should not panic though. While the signs of a replacement unit were seemingly not followed for the devices that are being sent out to customers in the United States, there is still a surefire way to determine if the smartphone does not have a faulty battery.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 7 IMEI tool, which will allow customers to check online if the smartphone that they have acquired is among the ones with possible risks of a faulty battery or among the replacement units.

The tool, which can be accessed through the official page for the Galaxy Note 7 global recall, will only require users to input the unique IMEI number of their device. The IMEI number can be found on the packaging of the smartphone and on the back of the device. In addition, the IMEI number is also listed in the Status option buried within the Galaxy Note 7's Settings menu.
