San Franciscans will never be royals, at least when it comes to their favorite baseball team.

Two radio stations are banning "Royals" from airing until the San Francisco Giants take on the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

Radio stations KFROG Radio and 96.5 KOIT pulled the song to send a message to Kansas City fans before the World Series starts on Tuesday.

"No offense, Lorde, but for the duration of the World Series, KFOG Radio will be a "Royals"-free zone," the radio station posted on Facebook. "We're sure you understand."

Some baseball fans that listen to the station responded that banning the song was bad karma, while others thought it was just plain old superstitious.

"Relax, people, we're just having a little fun. It does not guarantee victory or defeat, it is not censorship or close-mindedness," Dred Scott from KFROG responded.

The number one hit song was banned from KOIT after receiving complaints from loyal listeners.

The 17-year-old pop singer from New Zealand wrote the song after being inspired by a photo of Royals baseball player George Brett wearing his team's T-shirt while signing baseballs for fans. Lorde won song of the year for "Royals" at the Grammy's this year.

"A few angry San Franciscans who don't have a song called 'Giants' won't rain on our parade," Kansas City's 99.7 The Point program director said in a statement. The station promises to play the song every hour from seven a.m. to seven p.m. on Tuesday.
