Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors typically set off an alarm to warn homeowners, who may be inside a burning building, to run for safety. The Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight is a white disc about the size of your palm. It is powered by plugging it into a socket and features a nightlight, which can be dimmed and also illuminated in more than a million colors.

Once the nightlight is paired with the phone's Leeo app and the wireless network in the house, the device can start listening for any distinct pitches produced by either a carbon monoxide or smoke detector. Here's how it works. First, open a Leeo account, which is absolutely free. Next, install the Leeo app on the smartphone. Then, plug the Leeo nightlight into an electrical outlet. Finally, input the Wi-Fi router password into the app in order to allow Leeo to join one's home network.

The Leeo nightlight hears pitches from the carbon monoxide or smoke detectors through its built-in microphone. When it sends a notification, the recipient can listen in to the alarm going off and can choose to be connected to 911.

The device works with existing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and can hear an alarm across the same floor. This means that one alarm is needed in every story.
