The rumors about the Xiaomi Mi MIX Mini also being referred to as Xiaomi Nano has been shut down by no less than Xiaomi's marketing director, Zang Zhiyuan.

The news came through a statement posted last Nov. 23 at Weibo, a popular Chinese microblogging website.

"There's no such product as Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano," the post read.

Smaller Xiaomi Mi MIX Please

The Xiaomi Mi MIX has been earning plaudits for its bezel-free form factor. It is also earning tons of money for Xiaomi as it enjoys immense popularity in China. With a 6.4-inch display, however, the device is too large for some sectors, prompting a clamor for a smaller version.

The Mi MIX Mini began emerging by way of rumors after the Xiaomi Mi MIX was launched in October. For example, several pictures have been floating around online showing the Nano alongside its bigger sibling last week. There are also sources that already began citing hardware specs.

Xiaomi Today, for example, has reported that the miniature 5.5-inch Nano will be rocking a Snapdragon 821 processor and a 4 GB RAM. The claim was that it will be outfitted with roughly the same internals as the larger variant. The handset even got a pricing estimate, which is around $73 less than the going rate for the Mi MIX.

Final Word On The Nano?

It is interesting to note that Zang Zhiyuan's Weibo statement has been deleted as of this writing. It has given some fans reason to believe that the post was not official or that a Xiaomi Mi MIX Mini could still see the light of day.

One should also note the exact wording of the Xiaomi official's statement. It merely refuted the existence of a device named Nano. That should provide fans a glimmer of hope since it could also mean a smaller device is in the pipeline only with an entirely different name. If this speculation is true, the smaller handset could get a December launch.

Xiaomi Mi MIX U.S. Availability

While the Xiaomi Mi MIX is already available in China, there is no word yet on whether it will ever reach the United States. The device is constantly getting sold out in the country and the company states that its production capacity is hampered by the availability of the device's ceramic chassis. If you are interested in a Xiaomi device, Amazon lists a number of Xiaomi products currently available here.

Several days ago, photos of a rumored white version of the handset has been leaked. At this point, it is not yet clear if the images are also part of a hoax.
