Yahoo has acquired Evntlive and the service will no longer be available. So what does Yahoo intend to do with Evntlive?

The video streaming industry is growing at a very rapid pace. The easy availability of Internet access on portable devices such as smartphones and tablets have also contributed to the growth of video streaming on mobile devices.

Evntlive is not just a video streaming service - it is also an interactive digital concert venue that enables users globally to stream concerts on their computer, tablet or smartphone. The HTML5, web-based platform needs its users to get registered for a free account so that they can reserve tickets and access live and on-demand content.

"When we started EVNTLIVE in early 2012, we set out to change the way that fans engage with live music online by creating an interactive, virtual venue. Since launching our beta service in April 2013, we have live streamed hundreds of performances from amazing artists and festivals to fans all over the world," per Evntlive.

Yahoo also bought Ptch recently, which lets users remix their videos with effects and music. Similar to Evntlive, Ptch will also stop offering its service from January 2, 2014. Yahoo may have plans to develop and enhance Ptch's and EvntLive's services to offer a better and improved customer experience. The company may re-launch the Ptch and Evntlive services under a different name altogether; however, the company has not yet confirmed its plans.

Evntlive was co-founded by former Cisco CTO Judy Estrin in late 2011. The company raised $2.3 million in funding from well-known investors including Vint Cerf, Yogen Dalal, and Dave House, among others. The company first launched the beta version in April 2012.

"The team has found a way to truly make an experience out of live-streaming and we're excited to welcome them to Yahoo," said a Yahoo representative. "We see a lot of potential for how we can expand upon our shared vision for an entertaining content consumption experience."

Neither Yahoo nor Evntlive have confirmed the details of the deal.
