Rumors of the second-gen iPad Pro have been doing the rounds for several months but Apple has not confirmed any details of the tablet. The iPad Pro has many attractive features; however, tablet enthusiasts would want to see several improvements in the next-gen iPad Pro.

Here are some of the features that customers would expect to see in the iPad Pro 2.

Screen Size

The iPad Pro is available in two sizes: 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch. Speculations are rife that Apple will include a 10.5-inch model in the next-gen iPad Pro 2. The new size is expected to target business and education sectors.

Design

Rumors have been circling that Apple may remove the home button from the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus expected to be launched in September 2017. Fingerprint sensor placed on the home button is expected to be in-built within the screen as found on many Android smartphones. The removal of the physical home button will make the iPhone 8 smaller but the size of the screen will remain the same.

Customers will hope that Apple removes the physical home button in the iPad Pro 2 as well, which would make the next tablets smaller than its predecessors.

Battery

Apple claims that both the 9.7-inch and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro offer up to 10 hours of battery usage; however, some customers have reported battery drain issues with the iPad Pro.

"I'm having a problem with my iPad Pro, it's the 128gb cellular version from Verizon. I have cellular off and no other apps open in the background. My battery life has been wildly inconsistent and I'm not sure if this is normal or not," complained a Redditor.

Everyone wants better battery life but even competing tablets such as the Surface Pro 4 offer a similar usage time. Apple could slightly increase the battery capacity of the iPad Pro 2, which may marginally improve the device's battery performance. However, customers will expect that Apple also addresses the battery drain issues that will ensure consistent battery performance.

Processor And RAM

Apple has consistently improved the processing power of its tablets. The iPad Pro run on Apple's A9X processor. It is highly likely that the iPad Pro 2 tablets will come running on a faster A10X processor.

The 9.7-inch iPad comes with 2 GB of RAM and the bigger 12.9-inch model includes 4 GB of RAM. It is worth noting that that the Surface Pro 4 can be customized to up to 16 GB of RAM, which assures seamless usage experience.

Higher RAM configuration comes at a cost but it also brings along many benefits such as enhanced gaming experience, smooth transition between screens and improved multi-tasking capabilities. Customers will hope that Apple increases the RAM capacity of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro to enhance the overall usage experience.

Storage

Current-gen iPad Pro tablets are available with a maximum storage capacity of 256 GB. It is worth noting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet can be configured to up to 1 TB of internal storage capacity.

Customers waiting for the iPad Pro 2 will hope that Apple also introduces a 512 GB model next year.

iPad Pro 2 Release Date

Some rumors suggest that Apple may introduce the iPad Pro 2 lineup in March 2017. Customers would be happy to grab the latest tablet at the earliest but Apple has not confirmed any plans or revealed any details of launching the iPad Pro 2. This means tablet enthusiasts will have to wait until Apple makes an official confirmation about the iPad Pro 2.
